Arena names Germany squad - Created on 17 Mar 2006
USA boss Bruce Arena has named a largely domestic-based squad for next Wednesday's friendly with World Cup hosts Germany.
The 19-man squad will face a full-strength German squad at the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund, with only seven members of the squad coming from European clubs.
As the friendly falls outside the international football calendar, The Stars and Stripes have been unable to call on a number of experienced campaigners.
They include Manchester United goalkeeper Tim Howard, Manchester City midfielder Claudio Reyna, Leeds United winger Eddie Lewis and the Fulham pair of Carlos Bocanegra and Brian McBride.
Reading's Marcus Hahnemann and Bobby Convey are the only English-based players included to face the Germans, with Jurgen Klinsmann's squad looking for a confidence boost following a 4-1 defeat to Italy in Florence earlier this month.
Former Millwall, Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Kasey Keller is also included, as is former Crystal Palace defender Gregg Berhalter.
The rest of the squad is comprised of players from Major League Soccer, as the Americans play the first of five warm-up matches before this summer's World Cup finals.
"We look forward to the game versus Germany," Arena said.
"The German team will be prepared to play their best against us and this will be an incredible challenge for our players.
"Although we'll be playing with a less than full roster, this game will provide an outstanding opportunity for some of our players to show they deserve strong consideration for the World Cup.
"As a coach, you can't ask for more."
USA have been drawn in World Cup Group E with Czech Republic, Ghana and Italy.
