Arsenal, Marseille move for Everton defender Yobo - March 18, 2006
Arsenal and Olympique Marseille are chasing Everton defender Joseph Yobo.
The Nigerian centre-back has been identified as a potential long-term successor to Sol Campbell by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who is considering a bid when the transfer window opens.
French giants Marseille are also monitoring the progress of the player they sold to Everton for £4.5million in the summer of 2002, according to newspaper reports.
Toffees boss David Moyes will be keen to hold onto the 25-year-old, as veteran defenders Alan Stubbs and David Weir are both out of contract in the summer.
Moyes regards Yobo as an important part of Everton's long-term future, but with the Goodison Park club unlikely to qualify for Europe this season, Yobo may be tempted by a move.
