Arsenal try again for Real Madrid's Baptista - March 18, 2006
Arsenal are reviving their bid for Real Madrid utility Julio Baptista.
The Gunners lost out on the Brazilian star last summer when he moved from Sevilla to Real Madrid, but he has struggled to settle in the Spanish capital and Wenger is ready to launch a £10million raid, says the Daily Star.
Wenger was keen to land Baptista last year following the departure of Patrick Vieira to Juventus and Arsenal's deficiencies in midfield this season will prompt him to move again when the transfer window opens.
Real are planning a massive clearout in the summer after a new manager is appointed and it is thought they could let Baptista go for less than the £13.8million they paid for him.
Baptista has only managed 24 appearances and three goals for the Bernabeu club this year and could be tempted to link up with fellow Brazilian Gilberto Silva at the new Ashburton Grove stadium.
