Bolton boss Allardyce set to miss England job - March 16, 2006
Bolton Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce is set to miss out on an England coaching post.
An unnamed Premier League chairman says that FA chiefs want Alan Curbishley and Stuart Pearce to work together in an unprecedented managerial partnership.
The FA source told the Daily Express: "The feedback we are getting from the FA is that they would like two English coaches, one full-time, one part-time.
"Allardyce is well thought of and has a big chance, but Curbishley is seen as the safest pair of hands and it would make sense to have Stuart Pearce on a part-time basis."
