Jol dents Jermain's dream - 17 Mar 2006

Tottenham boss Martin Jol will not pick Jermain Defoe just to boost his prospects of making England's World Cup squad.
Defoe is battling it out with Charlton's Darren Bent for a place in Sven Goran Eriksson's squad, and some believe the Spurs man is set to miss out.
While Jol would love to see Defoe banging in the goals for England in Germany this summer he will not pick him if he is not part of his strongest side.
However, Defoe is set to start in Spurs' trip to St Andrews when they go head-to-head with Birmingham on Saturday, live on PremPlus, as Mido is struggling with a groin problem.
"The World Cup is an unbelievable tournament but it is not my problem," said Jol.
"It will be nice for me to watch when I am on my holidays in Spain but, as manager of Tottenham, I will always pick my strongest team.
"Jermain has never said to me 'Gaffer, I have to play because I want to go to Germany'.
"Jermain has never complained about being out of the team because he knows that would be disrespectful to others."
