Jol: The new Rooney - 17 Mar 2006
Tottenham boss Martin Jol is hoping his new signing Tomas Pekhart can "do a Wayne Rooney".
The 16-year-old prospect has joined Spurs from Slavia Prague and, whilst preaching patience over his latest signing, Jol would love to see Pekhart burst onto the Premiership scene within the next couple of years.
Rooney made his mark as a raw teenager with Everton and Tottenham are hoping that their new Czech hit-man can work his way into the first team reckoning.
"He was the best young player in the Czech Republic last year," the Spurs manager told Sky Sports News. "So he's a good talent.
"He's very big for his age, is good on the ball but he's 16 years of age so he's somebody for the future.
"Hopefully, he can do a Rooney but I think he's a different type of player.
"If he is as talented as we think, he could be there in maybe a couple of years."
The young striker is the latest continuation of Spurs' policy to bring young blood to White Hart Lane.
