Atletico have already sounded out intermediaries about Mancini's availability and while he is contracted to Roma until 2009, the Madrid giants are convinced a bid of £8 million will land him.
Atletico already have agreed deals for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Tomas Rosicky and Getafe's left-sided winger Mariano Pernia. The priority now is a right-sided attacker, with Mancini top of their shopping list.
