Lyon boss Houllier chases Newcastle job

Lyon boss Gerard Houllier wants a return to the Premiership with Newcastle United.

The Sun says the former Liverpool chief applied for the St James' Park job even though his current club Lyon have reached the Champions League quarter-finals.
Despite his success this season, Frenchman Houllier admits a return to the Premiership appeals to him. He said: "Of course I would consider managing in England again. Because of my strong ties with Liverpool, England will always be a very special place for me."
Martin O'Neill remains Toon chairman Freddy Shepherd's top choice.
But with the Irishman believed to be more interested in the England job, the Tynesiders are exploring other options.
