Chelsea bid for Corinthians duo Mascherano, Tevez - March 21, 2006
Chelsea are on the verge of a sensational double raid on Corinthians for Argentine pair Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.

The Times says Chelsea are confident of persuading Tévez and Mascherano, team-mates at Corinthians, to join their stable of stars in West London, although the Barclays Premiership champions are certain to face a fight with the Brazilian club.
Blues sources say they're confident of landing Mascherano, who manager Jose Mourinho sees as Claude Makelele's long-term successor.
Chelsea's quest to sign Tévez, widely regarded as one of the most promising talents in world football, should prove more troublesome, though.
Sources, however, have indicated that Corinthians would struggle to turn down an offer in excess of £30 million for a player who cost £11.4 million from Boca Juniors.
