Germany coach Jurgen Klinsmann has revealed that he will name his World Cup goalkeeper before the end of the Bundesliga season.
Speaking ahead of Germany's friendly against USA in Dortmund on Wednesday, Klinsmann declared that he will appoint either Oliver Kahn or Jens Lehmann as his team's number one before May 13, the final day of the season.
Both players have made it clear in interviews that they expect to get the nod, with Arsenal's Jens Lehmann stating that he does not think he could face another tournament on the bench.
Klinsmann has hinted that he fears a negative reaction from whoever ends up as understudy, with Kahn also repeating his firm belief that he will represent his country at the World Cup.
"We can only wait and see how our number two will react to the decision," Klinsmann commented.
"That is why we have decided to make the announcement before the end of the Bundesliga season - to give him time to consider what he wants to do.
"We can't really predict how any individual will react. The number two will have to make up his own mind and so it's only fair to give him time to do it."
