Roeder: Summer signings may decide Owen's Newcastle future - March 19, 2006

Newcastle caretaker boss Glenn Roeder admits their summer transfer plans will play a key role in convincing Michael Owen to stay on.

"I would have thought, if Michael saw that the calibre of player brought in when Alan (Shearer) retires is of the right type, he would stay where he is," said Roeder.
"I can't speak for Michael, but I don't see any reason why he would not want to stay next year and be part of the Newcastle team that gets into the Champions League."
