Mancini: Inter Milan didn't deserve defeat

Inter Milan were shocked 1-0 by Parma yesterday.
Fabio Simplicio's 36th-minute strike, following Pierre Wome's defensive howler, was the difference between the two sides as Inter spurned chance after chance to level the scores.

Parma goalkeeper Luca Bucci was outstanding for the home side, making a string of top-class saves and frustrating the visitors in attack.
It was the fourth consecutive league win for Mario Beretta's men, and it seems almost inconceivable that it is only a matter of weeks since Parma fans were fearing for their Serie A future.
Inter coach Roberto Mancini said afterwards: "This was a good game from both sides, as it was a battle and there were plenty of chances. I can say it was an unfair defeat on us, but at the same time Parma deserve praise for their performance. I cannot fault my players for their effort and desire today."
Parma boss Mario Beretta was celebrating a result that put them in mid-table and eased the pressure on their shoulders.
"These are three very important points to avoid relegation and the fact they came with such a good performance against a world class side adds extra confidence," said the tactician.
"The new system with Marco Marchionni playing behind Bernardo Corradi was essential, because it allowed Mark Bresciano and Fabio Simplicio to push up. Corradi fought like a lion against giants such as Marco Materazzi and Walter Samuel."
