Gerrard wants Pennant at Liverpool

Liverpool players are urging manager Rafa Benitez to push the boat out for Birmingham City winger Jermaine Pennant.

The Sun says captain Steven Gerrard and striker Peter Crouch have asked Reds boss Benitez to snap up the Birmingham winger.
Pennant, 23, has been told by Brum he is not for sale. But they will find it hard to reject a large bid with the club facing up to life in the Championship.
Crouch is licking his lips at the prospect of getting on the end of Pennant’s deadly crosses.
Pennant was the most consistent crosser of the ball in the Premiership last season.
