AC Milan cruise to Fiorentina victory

AC Milan overpowered Fiorentina 3-1 at the San Siro last night.
Luca Toni and Andriy Shevchenko have both played a major role in their respective side's successes this season and they were both on the scoresheet in the first half.
Toni gave Fiorentina the lead after 13 minutes and Shevchenko hit back after 20.

The parity was broken two minutes into the second half when Kaka headed in for Milan, whose recovery was completed by Gennaro Gattuso's strike on the hour mark.
The win provided the ideal preparation for Milan's Champions League quarter-final against Lyon on Tuesday, particularly as Paolo Maldini ended a lengthy injury absence with a 15 minute run-out at the end.
And with Juve dropping two points at home to Roma, the Serie A title is a dream which may just have been revived as the Rossoneri are eight points behind.
"At the moment we are playing good football, are solid and run few risks," said Rossoneri coach Carlo Ancelotti. "We are also comforted by the five-point lead we now have over Inter in third place, as that is what counts in Serie A now."
Milan have also closed the gap from Juventus to just eight points following the 1-1 draw at the Delle Alpi with Roma, but Ancelotti already has his eyes on the Champions League quarter-finals with Lyon.
"We struggled a little in the first half, but improved as time went on and ended the game attacking dynamically, which is very reassuring. We didn't have to use up too much energy ahead of Wednesday's game either."
