Man Utd chief: Van Nistelrooy stays

Manchester United chief David Gill has told Inter Milan they're wasting their time if they plan to make a bid for Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Van Nistelrooy, 29, has hit 19 Premiership goals this term but found himself dumped on the bench for the last four matches - including the Carling Cup final - as boss Alex Ferguson kept faith with Wayne Rooney and Louis Saha.
But Gill insisted: "Ruud is going nowhere. Inter Milan have not been in touch with us and this speculation is just mischief-making.
"The fact is Ruud is not for sale. He still has two years on his contract and he is staying at Manchester United.
"The manager has recently signed two top-class defenders, and we have our midfield situation to sort out next.
"But we have a top-class strike force and in Van Nistelrooy we have a player who can score 20-25 goals a season for us. Why would we want to sell him?"
