Man Utd to offer Van Nistelrooy for Tottenham's Carrick

Manchester United could offer striker Ruud van Nistelrooy to Tottenham in part-exchange for midfielder Michael Carrick.

It is understood Spurs - who are financially secure and do not need to sell Carrick - would only consider an offer of around £15million for the former West Ham midfielder.
Only a possible deal involving out-of-favour United striker Van Nistelrooy could persuade the White Hart Lane club if United refuse to increase their initial offer.
Tottenham's Dutch coach Martin Jol is a known admirer of Holland international Van Nistelrooy, who was involved in an end-of-season bust-up with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
Ferguson has struggled to fill the void left by Keane in the heart of their midfield, and Carrick would offer a wider range of passing while also protecting the defence.
