Real Zaragoza to beat Portsmouth for D'Alessandro

Real Zaragoza are set to trump Portsmouth and Benfica for Wolfsburg midfielder Andres D'Alessandro.

Wolfsburg have slapped a £4 million price-tag on the Argentina international, which has effectively stalled his move to Pompey, where he spent last season on-loan.
However, it's emerged today that Zaragoza are in talks with Wolfsburg over a 12-month loan with the option of an outright deal in 2007. Negotiations have been ongoing for ten days and D'Alessandro was back in Germany yesterday - after cutting short his summer break in Buenos Aries - demanding Wolfsburg allow him to move to Zaragoza.
Zaragoza have already agreed a £3.5 million fee over the permanent option for the midfielder, while they want to pay £700,000 for his 12-month loan. The Germans are demanding a flat £1 million.
