The first move of new Valencia sports director Amedao Carboni could be for Villarreal midfielder Juan Pablo Sorin.
Italian defender Carboni is set to be installed as Valencia's new sports chief at the end of the season and he is understood to be already pushing for Sorin to be signed as his replacement.
The Argentina international has only a year left on his Villarreal deal and Carboni is in no doubt Valencia need to strengthen their left-side with both he and Liverpool-bound Fabio Aurelio leaving the squad in the summer.
