Man Utd maintain interest for Villarreal ace Riquelme

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson remains interested in Villarreal playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme.

The Argentina international has been followed by Ferguson since his days at Barcelona and intermediaries are maintaining contact with the player and Villarreal about his availability.
Riquelme won't consider any offer until after the World Cup, but knows that Ferguson will be following him in preparation games leading into the Germany tournament.
Indeed, Ferguson is expected to make a personal check on Argentina before the World Cup kickoff to run his eye over Riquelme, Esteban Cambiasso of Inter Milan and his United defender Gaby Heinze.
