Maradona: England hopes hang on Rooney fitness

Argentine legend Diego Maradona says England's World Cup hopes hang on the fitness of Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.

The man who wrecked England's 1986 World Cup with his Hand of God goal said: "Rooney is the same as me - both as a player and as a person.
"He comes from a rough area but I like that. It can only help because he's seen how tough life can be.
"His temperament is a bonus - it will make him conquer adversity."
Rooney faces another scan on his broken foot on June 14 and Maradona insists the outcome could make or break England's campaign.
He said: "Without him England will suffer. If he makes it he could inspire them to victory."
Maradona, 45, believes Brazil will retain their trophy.
He added: "They have strength in depth and the right blend of youth and experience."
