Wigan to pay £8.5M NOW to land Palace ace AJ

Wigan Athletic are willing to hand Crystal Palace their entire £8.5 million bid UP FRONT to clinch the signing of Andy Johnson ahead of Bolton and Everton.

Latics whisked Palace striker Johnson north from the England World Cup camp in chairman Dave Whelan's helicopter.
Canny Whelan then reacted to Bolton's offer, and a late move by Everton, by telling Palace chairman Simon Jordan that he can have ALL of the transfer fee.
Jordan may now stop Bolton from speaking to Johnson and block Everton's efforts, says the Mirror.
Johnson, impressed with the way he was wooed, spoke to Jewell about Wigan's plans for next season and learned of a bumper £30,000-a-week contract.
