Real Madrid star David Beckham has told Bryan Robson he'll always be his hero - even if the Manchester United legend doesn't believe he should be leading England.
Becks shrugged off criticism from Bryan Robson, who said in his autobiography that the midfielder should not be England skipper.
Beckham said: "I heard what he said. He was my hero and he always will be.
"You will always get people criticising or praising you. It doesn't change the fact that he was one of my biggest heroes.
"It will be Steve's decision when he takes over.
"For now I am the captain and will lead the team into the World Cup and, hopefully, be successful. After that we will have to wait and see."
