Man Utd boss Ferguson heading for England bust-up over Rooney

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is heading for a bust-up with England over the fitness of Wayne Rooney.

Fergie told the News of the World: "I don't want any complications with Wayne's broken foot - especially with a bandwagon gathering pace to get him to the World Cup come hell or high water. "Let's get it straight. For the sake of the boy and for England, United will do everything to get him fit in time.
"But I am not going along with this half-baked idea of him going to Germany 80 per cent fit and then find him being pressured into playing before he is ready.
"That was the experience of David Beckham in the last World Cup and it was a disaster - because he wasn't right. Wayne is young and, in the environment of a World Cup, it would be easy to persuade him to play despite not being fully fit."
Fergie is heading for another bust-up over plans for Rooney to join the squad before the end of the month.
England fitness coach Ivan Carminati said: "Rooney may join us after we fly back from our fitness camp in Portugal.
"We leave for Germany on June 5 and Rooney could be on the plane and complete his recovery in Germany."
