Del Piero offered Juventus manager's job to ward off Spurs, Arsenal

Juventus president Franzo Grande Stevens is making room for talks with club captain Alessandro del Piero over a new contract.

The interest of Tottenham and Arsenal in the striker has forced Grande Stevens to drop everything and move to open negotiations over a new deal.
Del Piero is contracted to Juve until 2008, but has made English intermediaries aware of his frustrations this season over a limited role under coach Fabio Capello.
Wife Sophie is keen on a move to London, but Grande Stevens hopes his new contract offer will convince Del Piero to stay.
Not only will his playing contract be extended, but Del Piero will also be guaranteed a management role after his retirement as a replacement for technical director Roberto Bettega.
