Di Canio battling for new Lazio contract

Lazio captain Paolo Di Canio knows needs to prove himself in the final games of this season if he wants a new contract.

The controversial striker is approaching the end of his career at the age of 37 and reports in Italy are linking him with a move to Australia.
Di Canio has often revealed his wish to end his career at Lazio but the club have yet to offer him a contract extension.
The former West Ham forward has netted five goals in 24 league appearances for Lazio this season but it may not be enough to see him remain another year at the Stadio Olimpico.
Di Canio, who returns to the starting line-up this weekend, warmed up for Sunday's home clash against an already-relegated Lecce by snaring five goals during a friendly game on Thursday.
