Fulham are trying to land Martin O'Neill ahead of Newcastle United and England.
The Evening Chronicle says the Irishman has watched Fulham play on three occasions recently and there is talk that Craven Cottage supremo Fayed Mohammed would love him as his manger.
A source revealed: "Everyone spotted Martin O'Neill in the stands at Craven Cottage for Saturday's game with Portsmouth, but he has also been to a couple of other Fulham games lately and it is the talk of the place."
