Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has earmarked at least five of the 17 players away on-loan to break into the first team next season.
"I have no idea why I still have the appetite but we have always worked with young players here and it is refreshing to see them come through," said Ferguson.
"The balancing act is how to integrate them within our squad without losing the winning effect.
"We have 17 players on loan and five of them, without question, have an outstanding chance of making it. Hopefully we give them the right chance and preparation to get there.
"Loaning them out is a good option for us at the moment because we are only allowed one youth team now and reserve-team football is all about young players and you have to judge whether it is good enough for lads of 19 and 20."
