Newcastle's Roeder backing Lyon coach Houllier

Lyon coach Gerard Houllier has put his hand up for the Newcastle United job.

The Mirror says sources close to Houllier say he would return to the Premiership.
Houllier has unfinished business in England after leaving Liverpool when Rafa Benitez was brought in and would be up for the Newcastle challenge - if the role and the salary are right.
Caretaker coach Glenn Roeder is gaining support from Newcastle fans as Freddy Shepherd searches for a solution to the club's managerial vacancy, and would like to see Houllier installed as Director of Football to help him.
