Man City push for deal with Blackburn's Dickov

Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce wants to bring Blackburn Rovers striker Paul Dickov back to the club.

The 33-year-old Blackburn striker secured his place in Blues folklore with the last-gasp equaliser in the 1999 second division play-off final against Gillingham at Wembley.
His return to City on a free transfer would fit perfectly with City manager Pearce's plans to build a side for next season on a tight budget.
Pearce signed Andy Cole on a free transfer from Fulham last summer and has made it clear he is looking for similar bargains this time around.
Dickov, who is out of contract at Ewood Park in the summer, has been offered a new one-year deal by Rovers boss Mark Hughes.
"I never had a chance to show Kevin Keegan that I was worth a new contract and I never said I wanted to leave City," said Dickov.
