Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren avoided questions over skipper Gareth Southgate's critical comments on the morning of yesterday's FA Cup semifinal defeat.
McClaren admitted he had been told of comments by Southgate in a Sunday newspaper to the effect that none of the English candidates for the England job, including himself, were experienced enough.
He said: "Until I read it I don't know how to react. It didn't affect our performance."
