Ranieri eyeing Aston Villa post

Claudio Ranieri has emerged as a frontrunner for David O'Leary's job at Aston Villa.

The Mirror says the former Chelsea chief is admired by veteran Villa chairman Doug Ellis, who is considering boss O'Leary's future after bad results including the 5-0 weekend thrashing by Arsenal - and growing discontent among the fans who have turned against the Irishman.
The Italian had his own spy watching Villa's thumping at Highbury as he heard rumours he is the favourite to succeed O'Leary if Ellis loses faith.
