England job for Middlesbrough's McClaren

Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren is expected to be soon named England manager.

The Sun says FA bigwigs meet today to discuss Sven Goran Eriksson's successor and Middlesbrough's boss is expected to emerge as their final choice.
McClaren is on the brink of landing Sven Goran Eriksson's job, even though no one on the FA board is forcibly backing him.
With no overwhelming choice to take over, McClaren is seen as the safe option by the nominations committee, who will hold talks today before putting their choice before the full FA board.
McClaren refused to be drawn on the issue as Boro, watched by Eriksson, restricted Steaua to a one-goal advantage thanks to a wonder show by keeper Mark Schwarzer.
