Man Utd to offer £10M for Tottenham's Carrick

Manchester United are ready to offer £10 million for Tottenham midfielder Michael Carrick.

The Sun says United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has targeted the Geordie playmaker as the man he wants to anchor his midfield.
And anxious Spurs are already in the market for replacements, with Carrick, 24, reluctant to open talks about a new contract at White Hart Lane.
Carrick earns £15,000 a week at Spurs and is halfway through a four-year deal. Boss Martin Jol is keen to tie him down with an improved contract but knows the player is aware of United's interest.
If Spurs are denied a Champions League place by bitter rivals Arsenal, the odds on the England star leaving will shorten even further.
