Roma's Mexes admits buyout clause exists

Roma defender Philippe Mexes has confirmed his contract carries a £6.5 million buyout clause, but insists he's happy at the capital club.

"I have a contract until 2008. I know that this clause exists, but it means nothing to me," said Mexes. "Two years ago I did not sign with Roma thinking that I'd soon leave.
"We have still not spoken about a new deal, but I am happy here. Sure, if an offer arrived and the club decided to accept it we could speak."
Of interest from AC Milan, the Frenchman added: I'm delighted that one of the stronger clubs of Europe likes me. But, I repeat, if I was to leave it would mean that everyone is in agreement. And Roma would have to be paid well."
