Newcastle United captain Alan Shearer has backed Glenn Roeder for the fulltime manager's job.
Shearer said: "Glenn has made a fantastic case for himself if he wants the job. I don't know if he does with the stress that goes with management.
"But I know the lads respect him. He's pulled off some fantastic results in his time in charge.
"One day I would like a bash at management - but I want a few years off to enjoy life before I do that."
