Wigan boss wants new deal for Roberts

Wigan boss Paul Jewell is determined to tie star striker Jason Roberts to a new long-term contract this summer after his 14 goal haul in the top flight.

The 28 year old has one year remaining on his current deal at the end of this season and concedes the future is uncertain.
"Jason's contract has a year to go and hopefully in the summer we can sit down and give him a new one," confirmed Jewell. "That's what we want to do. We want to keep our better players, and also at the same time improve the squad."
Roberts, meanwhile, is keeping his options open for now.
"I have one year left on my contract at Wigan and when you go into the final 12 months of a contract the situation is always delicate," Roberts told the BBC.
"I have to look to the future. We shall have to wait and see what happens."
