Man Utd's Rooney remains on Real Madrid shortlist

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is Real Madrid's fallback option should they fail to land Arsenal captain Thierry Henry in the summer.

Real's technical staff have drawn up a detailed dossier on Rooney and it sits on the desk of president Fernando Martin. Scouts are convinced Rooney would form an explosive partnership with Ronaldo.
However, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has tied his future to the England star and won't consider selling him - at any price.
Real are confident they can outbid United in any contract war for Rooney, but know that convincing the club to sell will depend on the 20 year-old demanding a move away.
