Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren has urged Manchester City directors to back manager Stuart Pearce after yesterday's win at Eastlands.
Pearce slammed his players after the 1-0 loss and McClaren said: "Management is easy when you are winning. It is a bit tougher when you are not.
"The mark of a good manager is how you get through the bad times.
"Every season, one manager or another goes through spells like this. Stuart Pearce has the character, the staff and the players to pull it round.
"He has done a fantastic job here over the last season or so but now is the time to hold his nerve and not panic."
